Some of Hawai‘i Island’s most experienced and talented kupuna hula dancers performed at Hawai‘i Kupuna Hula Festival, which returned to Kona on Sept. 11 & Sept. 12 after a years long hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The two-day event, presented by the Hawaiʻi County Department of Parks & Recreation’s Elderly Activities Division, took place at the Outrigger Kona Resort and Spa. The theme for this year’s 38th annual event is “Na Manu O Hawai‘i – Our Native Birds of Hawai‘i.”
